About Won Sung, DDS

Hi, my name is Won Sung, your new dentist. I also go by ""Michael."" I recently purchased this practice from Dr. Bruce McLane. In the time I've been here, I'm gratified to find that Dr. McLane's former patients have been very accepting during this transition and quickly welcomed me as their new dentist. I look forward to continuing to meet old and new patients alike. I know that this smooth change of ownership would not be possible without the help of our wonderful team members, Carla, Tina, Pat, Faith, and Elizabeth. I am a South Korea-born Canadian, and my parents and sister still reside in Vancouver, British Columbia. I graduated from Magee Secondary School with honors and attended Simon Fraser University for my undergraduate degree in Honors Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. I was then admitted to the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, a highly acclaimed and prestigious dental school known for its leading role in oral health education and research. While attending dental school I met my wife, who was then an Economics student at UC San Diego. My wife joined me a short time later after completing her school in California. During my third year of dental school, we had our first child, Julie. Upon successful completion of my dental degree, we moved to Naperville, Illinois. Before purchasing our Elgin practice, I worked in large group dental practices in Bourbonnais and Aurora. My wife, Ju Young, and I have been blessed with two daughters, Julie and Sophie. On weekends, we all enjoy going to the park, zoo, museums, and playgrounds. They keep us really busy, and I do my best to maintain balance between work and family.
