About Ted S. Eisenberg, DO
Ted Eisenberg, D.O., FACOS, FAACS, has more than 25 years of experience as a Plastic Surgeon in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. For the first 13 years of his career, he did general plastic and reconstructive surgery from head to toe. Since 1998, he has focused his practice entirely on cosmetic breast surgery. He has performed more than 6,600 breast augmentations, earning him a Guinness World Record for the most breast implant surgeries done in a lifetime. Dr. Eisenberg is double board-certified in General Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery by the AOBS. After four years of medical school, he took seven years of specialty training, including residencies in general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery. In honor of his extensive postgraduate education, he was named a Fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. A leader in his profession, Dr. Ted Eisenberg has been at the forefront of ground-breaking techniques in plastic surgery. In 2003, he created the I.D.E.A.L Breast Lift, an innovative procedure for breast lift surgery that maximizes the lift and minimizes the scar. With his staple-first technique, Dr. Eisenberg tailor tacks the breast tissues together in order to previsualize the final results – prior to making an incision and removing the excess stretched skin. Much of his earlier work involved the use of tissue expander implants for breast, scalp, eye and nose reconstruction. In the mid-1980s, he introduced these pioneering procedures to the Philadelphia area. His achievements – and the differences they made in his patients’ lives — have been profiled in the media. With his wife, Joyce, Dr. Eisenberg wrote The Scoop On Breasts: A Plastic Surgeon Busts the Myths (Incompra Press 2012). In the book, he answers hundreds of actual patient questions about breast development, breast health and breast implants. The book has won 10 national book awards in categories including women’s health, humor, popular culture, and design. He and Joyce were interviewed on many stations, including Fox News. Dr. Eisenberg has been a guest speaker on TV and radio, lending his expertise to discussions about trends in cosmetic breast surgery, saline and silicone breast implants, body piercing and skin cancer prevention. Dr. Eisenberg is an associate professor of surgery at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also teaches his breast augmentation and breast lift techniques to doctors from around the world. He is a frequent contributor to academic journals and a lecturer on topics relating to his experience with over 7,000 cosmetic breast surgery procedures. For over a decade, Dr. Eisenberg served on a national committee that evaluates the standards for plastic surgery residencies. He was National Chairman of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Division of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and served on the certifying board of the AOBS. Dr. Eisenberg has been happily married for more than 30 years to his childhood sweetheart, Joyce, who is a humor columnist and co-author of The Dictionary of Jewish Words, The Whole Spiel, and Stuff Every Grandmother Should Know. His son, Ben, is the Owner and President of Smarter Campaigns, a Denver-based marketing, political consulting, and new media company, and Director of Global Operations at SavvyPol Consulting Group. He’s a graduate of the University of Colorado and George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management. His daughter, Samantha, graduated from Widener University’s dual master’s program in Social Work and Human Sexuality Education. She is a therapist at the Center for Growth in Philadelphia, a singer-songwriter, and a massage therapist. Her undergraduate degree is from Goucher College. Dr. Eisenberg’s unique hobby of knife and tomahawk throwing has been featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer (“Nip and Duck”) and on CBS 3 TV. After years of being an onlooker, Joyce now also competes.
