About Susan Mayer, DDS
Dr. Susan Mayer received a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Biology/Chemistry. Prior to dental school, she spent five years in medical research. This included two years of graduate training in Medical Microbiology at Vanderbilt University Medical School, and later at Harvard Medical School in the laboratory of Dr. Baruj Benacerraf, 1980 Nobel Laureate in Medicine. She earned her D.D.S. at Northwestern University Dental School in 1984. Dr. Mayer is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, and a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international honorary dental organization. She has served as president of the Illinois Association of Women Dentists, and has taught clinical dentistry at Northwestern. Dr. Mayer is currently serving on the board of the Illinois Academy of General Dentistry. Other professional affiliations include the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Chicago Dental Society, and American Dental Association. Dr. Mayer has been in private practice since 1984.
