About Stuart R. Schelkopf, DDS

Dr. Stuart Schelkopf’s passion, dedication, strong values, and caring personality has led him to impact the lives of many patients, allowing them truly life-changing dental care. From an early age, he became a highly-trained board-certified dental specialist (prosthodontist). His practice focuses on his specialty of prosthodontics, which is the ADA-recognized specialty dedicated to maintaining, restoring, and replacing teeth. His practice includes a concentration on esthetically-enhancing dentistry (veneers and smile enhancing makeovers), dental implants, complex dentistry, full-mouth reconstruction, as well as comprehensive dental care and maintenance. Discovering his enjoyment of esthetics, healthcare, engineering, and personal interaction, Stuart found dentistry to be a field that peaked his interests early on. Raised in Dekalb, Illinois, Stuart was initially exposed to the dental field while shadowing and then working in an orthodontics office. After high school, he attended the University of Illinois where he earned his Bachelors of Science (BS), majoring in Chemistry with a focus on pre-dentistry and graduating with presidential honors, magna cum laude honors, and as a James Scholar. Following graduation, Dr. Schelkopf earned his Doctor in Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, graduating salutatorian of his dental school class with a focus on specializing in advanced prosthodontics and esthetic dentistry. He went on to complete a 3-year specialty residency in advanced prosthodontics, a Master’s of Science in Oral biology, as well as an additional 1-year implant and digital dentistry fellowship, all at the University of Illinois at Chicago. It was Dr. Schelkopf’s commitment to being able to provide the best care for his patients that led him to complete the highest level of formal education and training in his field. His perfectionist nature and passion for his craft is evident in his treated cases, but it is his relatability and compassionate nature that so many patients appreciate equally. Dr. Schelkopf prides himself on providing the highest-quality care with a personal touch, and his work speaks for itself, as can be seen in the smile gallery page. In addition to his practice, Dr. Schelkopf lectures on prosthodontics, esthetic dentistry, and implant care as well as serves as a mentor for pre-dental students, new dentists, and prosthodontics residents. Outside of the office, Stuart enjoys golf, reading, and exploring Chicago’s dynamic food scene with his wife Kalee. However, he would tell you that his greatest dedication and accomplishment is being a loving husband and father, recently welcoming his and Kalee’s newborn son Parker into their family. Dr. Schelkopf’s personality, standards, experience, and exciting future led him to be a perfect match when originally joining UAD. He is excited for the future as he continues to bring happiness, comfort, and relief to the lives of so many of his patients, and he looks forward to the opportunity to help you receive the smile of your dreams and the care you deserve.
