About Steven Lou, DDS
Steven Luo, D.D.S. is a California Board licensed cosmetic and family dentist. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in general biology at the University of California San Diego, Dr. Luo received his dental degree at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. While at Tufts, Dr. Luo was the honorable recipient of the Tufts Academic Merit Scholarship. He was then selected to participate in a one-year hospital dentistry residency at the Sepulveda Veterans Administration Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. In the hospital setting, Dr. Luo managed many medically compromised patients and received specialty training in advanced dental techniques including hospital dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, and implantology. Dr. Luo’s memberships in professional societies include the Academy of General Dentistry, the San Diego County Dental Society, the California Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Luo places strong emphasis on continuing education and has been involved with numerous dental study clubs including the Summit Dental Study Group, South Bay Advanced Dental Study Club and the La Jolla Study Club. Dr. Luo has been fortunate enough to be selected as one of only 25 sites in the U.S. to participate in a new clinical study sponsored by Novalar Pharmaceuticals, Inc. The study is being performed to help find an alternative to lingering numbness caused by local anesthetics after a dental procedure. As part of the study, Dr. Luo worked as a principal investigator and researched the effects of a new drug called OraVerse, a local anesthetic reversal agent which can potentially help accelerate the return of normal sensation after a dental procedure. This revolutionary product has had a great and far-reaching impact on the practice of dentistry and Dr. Luo feels very fortunate for being able to contribute to this. Born and raised in San Diego, Dr. Luo has a deep respect and love of the area. He is proud to serve Imperial Beach and all of San Diego County with comprehensive, high quality dentistry in a uniquely caring environment. His passion is to care for others and his goal is to help restore his patients’ health and appearance by providing the highest quality of care with honesty and integrity. In his spare time he enjoys playing basketball, practicing Krav Maga and Jiu Jitsu, surfing, working out in the gym, and traveling around the world. He also adores spending time with his wife and three young children.
