About Steven Laifer, DDS
Dr. Steven Laifer is committed to provide you with excellence in general and restorative dentistry, in a caring and gentle way. He strives to build long-lasting dental relationships, one smile at a time, and Dr. Laifer takes great pride in helping his patients to achieve a high level of dental health and esthetics. After graduating in 1975 from the New York University College of Dentistry, where he participated in the Orthodontics Honors program and worked at the New York VA Hospital, Dr. Laifer completed a rigorous two year Internship/Residency at the Long Island College Hospital from 1975-1977, serving as Chief Resident in General Dentistry from 1976-1977. After additional experience practicing in New York City with dental specialists in Children’s Dentistry and Dental Anesthesia for 2 years, Dr. Laifer relocated to Cresskill, New Jersey in 1978 when he assumed the practice of Dr. Morris L. Cohen, later moving the practice to our present facility in 1980. Dr. Laifer keeps abreast of the dynamic changes in dental materials and technology through continuing education. After passing a rigorous examination and completing 500 hours of clinical continuing education, Dr. Laifer was awarded a prestigious Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1982. Dr. Laifer has been an Attending Dentist and a Clinical Instructor at Englewood Hospital since 1979. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association and Bergen County Dental Society. He was the School Dental Officer for the Cresskill School System for many years. A native New Yorker, Dr. Laifer received his education in the New York public schools and graduated from the City University of New York with an Economics and Pre-Dental major. During his college undergraduate years, he was a member of the 42nd Infantry Division of the New York Army National Guard. Dr. Steven Laifer and his wife, Nancy, have three children. Dr. Nancy Laifer practices Optometry in Cresskill and New York City. Dr. Laifer enjoys hiking, travel and boating. His favorite pastimes include reading, gardening and tinkering in his garage.
