About Stephen E. Nechvatal, DMD

Dr. Stephen Edward Nechvatal was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio. He graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science Degree and majored in Pre-Medicine. He attended Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine from 1971-1975 and earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree. From 1975-1979 Dr. Nechvatal served in the United States Air Force as a Captain in the Medical Corps. After completing a Residency Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Gundersen Clinic – La Crosse Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1982. Dr. Nechvatal practiced in Oshkosh, Wisconsin from 1982-1985 and entered into his private practice in Michigan in 1986. He is licensed in Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin and is Board Certified in his specialty. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. As a dedicated husband and the father of two he has many interests outside of his career. Dr. Nechvatal enjoys baseball, fishing, golf and flying and is an instrument rated private pilot. He has two daughters Dr. Natalie Nechvatal and Dr. Leslie Nechvatal who are practicing dentists in the state of Ohio. Dr. Nechvatal has special interests and training in orthognathic surgery and dental implant placement. He has been placing dental implants for over 26 years and is one of the most experienced implant surgeons in Michigan. Dr. Nechvatal was one of the first surgeons in the United States to train with Dr. Per-Ingvar nemark at the Mayo Clinic in 1985. He has extensive training in bone grafting, sinus grafting and soft tissue procedures. He has trained with Dr. Carl E. Misch at The Misch Institute, Dr. Michael Pikos at the MAP Institute and with Dr. Anthony G. Sclar; an acknowledged expert and author of “Soft Tissue and Esthetic Considerations in Implant Therapy. Dr. Nechvatal also has advanced training in cosmetic facial surgery including Botox and Dermal Filler procedures.
