About Shwetambara Parakh, MD

I was born and raised in India, educated under the able guidance of my doctor parents who taught me that success is possible if you work hard and dedicate yourself to it. They taught me by example. Every satisfied patient that left their doors was a standing example of their dedication towards their work. With these ideas in mind, I went to medical school at M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, which is among the top 5 private medical schools in India. After graduating at the top of my class (1st division), in my constant quest for improvement, I decided to travel to United States to pursue further training in the field of my passion – Surgery. While going through general surgical training at New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital, I discovered a growing interest in Plastic Surgery. Medicine is as much an art as a science and no specialty reinforces this more than Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. I was accepted at the highly competitive plastic surgery training at the combined program of Cornell and Columbia Universities at New York Presbyterian Hospital. I also trained at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Hospital for Special Surgery. This top-notch training taught me the classical tried and tested as well as newest and most advanced techniques in aesthetic surgery. After my training I joined Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts where I was also assistant professor at Tufts Medical School. I worked there for a few years at a Level 1 Trauma center performing a broad spectrum of aesthetic and reconstructive surgeries and teaching residents the art of plastic surgery. While I enjoyed working in Western Massachusetts my heart was always back in the vibrant New York Metro area. I was interested in a private practice setting where I could create an intimate and caring environment for my patient’s individual needs and goals. This quest has finally resulted in the creation of Parakh Plastic Surgery, where I can provide the highest level of personalized care and finest aesthetic results. My interests are in cosmetic surgery of the face, breasts and body and my repertoire of procedures include facial rejuvenation with face/neck and eye lifting, nose surgery, breast augmentation/lift, scarless and traditional breast reduction, gynecomastia, liposuction, tummy tuck, mommy makeover and body contouring.
