About Sheila Gordon-Holt, DDS
Dr. Sheila Gordon-Holt was born in Managua, Nicaragua where she lived until the age of fifteen. Dr. Holt and her family relocated to the U.S. in 1991. At a young age, Dr. Holt had to have extensive dental work done. This sparked her lifelong interest in the field of dentistry and helping people; while in school, in her practice and even internationally. Upon arrival to the U.S.A., Dr. Holt enrolled at E.L. Bowsher High School in Toledo, Ohio where she completed her last two years of high school graduating with honors. Upon graduation, Dr. Holt attended the University of Toledo where she graduated cum laude achieving a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with a Minor in Spanish. After graduation, Dr. Holt attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, MI where she received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. During her years in dental school, Dr. Holt was class secretary for three years and was a mentor for prospective dental students. Dr. Holt has always prided herself on achieving the highest degree of education. Following her career in dental school, Dr. Holt furthered her studies by attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she completed a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. After completing her residency program, Dr. Holt married her husband whom she met in Dental School and relocated to the Charlotte area where she began practicing dentistry. Dr. Holt has been involved in numerous outreach programs since her involvement in the dental field, Dr. Holt has been on numerous mission trips to Montego Bay, Jamaica and her hometown of Nicaragua, where she provided dental care to an underserved population. Dr. Holt, leading Ballantyne family dentist, is currently a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), The Dawson Academy, and the Seattle Study Club. Dr. Holt’s goals for the future include continuing to do outreach programs in the community and abroad and staying current of the latest technology dentistry has to offer.
