About Sana H. Zahiruddin, MD
I am originally from Augusta, Georgia, and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in biology, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in religion. I feel fortunate to have spent the last two years of college living in different parts of the world. Some of the countries I visited included Brazil, Bosnia and Herzegovina, South Korea, South Africa, India, and Scotland. Traveling was a transformative experience for me, not only opening my mind to different cultures but giving me the chance to listen to stories of so many different people. I received my MD from Stanford University, a beautiful campus with remarkable teachers. My experiences at Stanford are what solidified my decision to pursue dermatology. Stanford was a life changing experience and I hope to blog about it soon. I completed my internship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. I completed my dermatology residency from the University of Texas Houston and MD Anderson Cancer Center, where I served as chief resident. I have authored book chapters, presented at national and international meetings, and published widely, including in the Journal of American Academy of Dermatology and Clinics in Dermatology. I have been blessed with such great teachers and mentors over the years. They have introduced me to new experiences and opportunities and have shaped the dermatologist that I am today.
