About Ryan P. O'Quinn, MD

Ryan P. O’Quinn, MD, a third-generation native of San Antonio, completed his BS in Biology at Baylor University. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where he graduated as one of the top students in his class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. While in medical school, Dr. O’Quinn decided to leave his home state of Texas to train in the very best programs available for his post-graduate medical education. Dr. O’Quinn completed a medical internship at the Yale School of Medicine/Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut prior to beginning residency in the Division of Dermatology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. At Vanderbilt, he served as Chief Resident in his final year of training. Dr. O’Quinn then went to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to complete his training in the most competitive Mohs Micrographic Surgery/Dermatologic Surgery fellowship under the direction of two true surgical pioneers, Dr. David G. Brodland and Dr. John A. Zitelli (one of Dr. Frederic Mohs’ original students). Dr. O’Quinn returned to San Antonio in 2002 and established the South Texas Skin Cancer Center with the goal of providing the very best treatment possible for patients with cutaneous malignancy.
