About Rachel Epstein, DO

Dr. Rachel Epstein is one of a very select few of dermatologists on the West Coast of Florida who is fellowship trained in Mohs micrographic surgery, the most effective and precise treatment for certain skin cancers. After residency, Dr. Epstein went on to complete a prestigious one year ACGME procedural dermatology fellowship in Mohs, reconstructive and cosmetic dermatologic surgery. She has successfully completed thousands of Mohs surgery procedures with advanced reconstructions. Dr. Epstein has been recognized by both her peers and her patients for excellence in her specialty. She has been named as Patients’ Choice Award and Compassionate Doctor Award in 2017 and 2018. In addition to her work with patients, Dr. Epstein has been the recipient of national awards for her lectures and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. Dr. Epstein earned her Bachelors of Science Degree in biology and exercise physiology with a minor in chemistry and art at the University of Miami. She then completed medical school at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating with highest honors. Following medical school, Dr. Epstein completed an Internship at Sun Coast Hospital/Largo Medical Center. She then became co-chief resident, completing her Residency in Dermatology at Largo Medical Center/Bay Pines VA. Dr. Epstein then went on to complete a highly competitive Procedural Dermatology Fellowship emphasizing skin oncology, Mohs micrographic surgery, laser, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Epstein has served as an Academic Instructor at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine and is a Volunteer Instructor for Nova Southeastern University. She has a passion for teaching medical students and residents procedural dermatology. Dr. Epstein maintains active membership in several professional societies to ensure she is at the forefront of dermatologic treatment and research.
