About Paul Stanislaw, MD

I graduated from Colby College with Distinction in the Major of Biology in 1989. While at Colby, I was involved in research looking at tumor suppressor genes and their role in the pathogenesis of human cancers. Because of my research at Colby, I was awarded a one year research position at the National Institutes of Health which enabled me to continue my research in tumor suppressor genes at a higher level. Even though I loved the intellectual challenges of research, I had always wanted to go into medicine – even when I was in elementary school. Helping people is in my nature, so after I completed my research, I went to Albany Medical College in Albany, New York. I then graduated from Albany Medical College in 1994 with honors as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. I stayed in Albany and completed my residency in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery in 1999. Twenty five percent of my residency was in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and I loved the artistic aspect of this sub-specialty. I found that I had a particular eye for facial plastic surgery, and I wanted to use my talent to help people in the best way that I could. I therefore completed a fellowship in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Albany Medical Center in 2000. My wife is a pediatrician and at the time of the completion of my fellowship she was a Major in the United States Air Force, at Andrews Air Force Base, outside of Washington, DC. I moved to Washington after my fellowship and worked in Washington DC until my wife completed her commitment to the United States Air Force in 2001. In 2001, I went into solo practice and established the Stanislaw Facial Plastic Surgery Center in Avon, Connecticut. Since then, my practice has been exclusively cosmetic facial plastic surgery and facial reconstruction following the excision of skin cancers. I am Double Board Certified: I am board certified in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. In addition, I am a Fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. I also serve on several committees within the Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Connecticut, and participate in resident education in regards to cosmetic injections and skin cancer reconstructions.
