About Paul L. Fortgang, MD

Paul Fortgang, MD, FACS, has practiced otolaryngology at SNEENT since 1987. Originally from Long Island, he attended the University of Rochester where he majored in Biology. He then received his MD from the Medical College of Pennsylvania, now Drexel University College of Medicine. Subsequently he completed two years of general surgery and his Otolaryngology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Hospital, in New York, and then pursued a fellowship in facial plastic surgery in Washington, DC. He is currently a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine where he teaches residents, fellows, and medical students. Dr Fortgang is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Connecticut State Medical Society, and Connecticut Ear Nose and Throat Society. He is Past President of and a member of the New Haven County Medical Association, and has served on the Board of Trustees of the Hospital of Saint Raphael. He was one of the founding physicians and first President of Project Access-New Haven, an organization that coordinates free care for uninsured patients. He continues to be very active within both the County and State Medical Societies. He has privileges at Yale New Haven, Midstate, Griffin, and Middlesex Hospitals. ​ Dr Fortgang practices General Otolaryngology, treating all types of ear, nose and throat disorders with a special interest in sinus surgery and pediatric ENT. His outside interests include music, running, dogs, and reading.
