About Patrick W. Hsu, MD
Dr. Patrick Hsu, the founder of Memorial Plastic Surgery, is a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in breast reconstruction and has been in practice for more than a decade. Aside from breast procedures, Dr. Hsu regularly performs some of the most sought-after plastic surgery procedures on the face and body such as tummy tucks, facelifts, and liposuction. A native of Short Hills, New Jersey, Dr. Hsu began his training at Rutgers College where he received his Bachelor of Science and followed it up with a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Albany Medical College. He earned his Medical Degree at UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he graduated as President of his class with the highest honors. While there, he was awarded the prestigious Rudolph Camishon Award for Academic Excellence in Surgery. For his first fellowship – in Plastic Surgery – he went back to UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson; his second, this time in Microsurgery, was completed at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. During his stay at the latter, he rigorously trained in performing reconstructive surgery and in mastering advanced techniques in breast reconstruction such as DIEP and SIEA flaps. Beyond the operating room, Dr. Hsu has made time for publishing his works with the aim of sharing knowledge culled from his more than a decade-long career. Chief among his written works is Plastic Surgery Emergencies: Principles and Techniques, a textbook he co-authored and is used to train plastic surgery clinicians and residents in dealing with emergencies. Other books under his name are the Prevention of Hematomas and Seromas, Venous Thromboembolism Prophylaxis, and Infection Prophylaxis Update. For his commitment to plastic surgery excellence and quality patient care, Dr. Hsu has been given recognition by the following bodies: Doctors’ Choice Award by Health and Fitness Magazine (2011 & 2012); among Houston’s Top Doctors by H-Texas Magazine (2011 to 2015); among Consumers’ Research Council of America: Top Surgeons in the United States (2011 & 2012); among Consumers’ Research Council of America’s Top Plastic Surgeons (2011 & 2012).
