About Nima Gharavi

Dr. Nima Gharavi is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS). He is currently director of Dermatologic surgery & Mohs micrographic surgery, and an Assistant Clinical Professor for the Department of Dermatology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.Dr. Gharavi is a summa cum laude graduate of UCLA in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology with a specialization in Business and Administration, and received both his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He then completed his internship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, residency in dermatology at UCLA, and fellowship in procedural dermatology/Mohs micrographic surgery at UCLA.Dr. Gharavi is the recipient of numerous academic awards, including the Edith and Carl Lasky award for medical research, the Irvin H. Page young investigator award (youngest recipient), and the ACMS Theodore Tromovitch award for his research on the molecular mechanisms of squamous cell carcinoma. He has been the recipient of grants from the American Heart Association (AHA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Psoriasis Foundation, amongst others. His research interests include the molecular pathogenesis of high-risk skin cancers, wound healing, inflammation, and the aging process. He is a consultant and has served on the advisory board for several laser and cosmetic companies. He is also co-founder and serves on the board of directors of DermOQ, Inc. To date, Dr. Gharavi has published over 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts and textbook chapters, and continues to present and teach at national and international conferences.
