About Nasim Fazel, MD
Dr. Fazel is a dual certified dermatologist and dentist with a special interest in the medical management of oral mucosal diseases and soft-tissue pathology, including oral lichen planus, aphthous ulcers, burning mouth syndrome, oral vesiculobullous disease (e.g., pemphigus and pemphigoid), and oral signs of systemic disease. Her background in dentistry gives her special insight into the pathophysiology of these conditions. She is a nationally recognized leading expert in the field of oral mucosal disease receiving regular referrals from the Northern and Southern California area and Nevada. Dr. Fazel's primary research interest is focused on oral mucosal disorders specifically, oral lichen planus including the epigenetics and pathogenesis of the disease, diagnostic devices in translational biophotonics, quality of life measures and potential novel therapies for refractory disease including IVIG and biologics.
