About Mitchel Seruya
Dr. Seruya completed his residency in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, where he developed a strong interest in helping children with congenital and acquired deformities. This passion for pediatric plastic surgery took Dr. Seruya to Australia, where he completed two fellowships at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. Living in Australia was not only a tremendous life experience but also a unique opportunity to be exposed to the latest techniques from the international plastic surgery community. His first fellowship was in cleft and craniofacial surgery, which included dedicated training in the treatment of craniosynostosis, cleft lip and palate, vascular anomalies, and ear deformities. His second fellowship was in pediatric hand and microsurgery, which focused on the treatment of cerebral palsy, congenital hand anomalies, facial palsy, neonatal brachial plexus palsy, and traumatic hand deformities. Dr. Seruya was recruited from Texas Children's Hospital, where he was the co-director of the Brachial Plexus/Peripheral Nerve Clinic and director of the Facial Paralysis Clinic. He is excited to deliver expertise in the areas of pediatric hand and microsurgery at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles, striving to provide the highest quality of care in a patient-centered fashion. He is also engaged in clinical outcomes-based research as a means of optimizing treatment modalities as well providing realistic expectations for patients and their families.
