About Michelle Martin-Thomas, Aesthetician Specialist
Licensed aesthetician Michelle Martin-Thomas has a passion for science-backed skincare problem solving. Having struggled with acne as a teen and young adult and the scarring that comes with it, she understands first hand the confidence clear skin can bring. Not having access to a dermatologist as a teen, she researched anatomy and dermatology texts in the library and figured out what ingredients popular acne treatments had in them. She then acquired over the counter products that included those ingredients, in an attempt to treat her acne herself (do not try this at home!). She went on to channel this skincare curiosity and attended the Jean Madeline Aveda Institute for Cosmetology with a focus in aesthetics. She now has over 20 years experience in aesthetics and has been trained and certified on multiple aesthetic laser, light, and energy based platforms, including: Cynosure Icon and Apogee Duet, Fraxel Dual and Clear + Brilliant, Lightsheer Duet, Thermage, Liposonix, Sculpsure, Syneron Ematrix, and Cutera Xeo. With this extensive training, she has safely and effectively performed fractional laser resurfacing, IPL, laser hair removal, skin tightening, laser vein removal, and fat reduction. Michelle has also attained advanced microdermabrasion, chemical peel, microcurrent, and microneedling certifications. More recently she had begun training as an RN in order to meet her patient’s needs more completely. Michelle has worked and gained extensive training in some of the best spas and clinics in Philadelphia, New York, and Charlotte, NC. Michelle has also utilized her passion and experience to train and mentor other aestheticians, both formally and informally. She won Best of Philly in 2001 and has been featured in Philadelphia Magazine, InStyle Magazine, Philadelphia Style Magazine, and Allure. Michelle’s special interest lies in combining the most cutting edge, evidence-based cosmetic treatments with tried and true, common sense skin care knowledge to craft specialized skincare options for patients.
