About Michael J. Thoene, MD
Dr. Michael J. Thoene has been in private dermatology practice since 1979. He was joined by Dr. Doyle D. Hansen in 1982. Dr. Thoene is a native of Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska Medical School in Omaha. He is Board Certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology. Dr. Thoene served in the United States Navy for seven years on active duty. After Naval service he started a private practice in El Cajon and was joined by Dr Hansen to form East County Dermatology Group. Dr. Thoene performs most types of dermatologic surgery and is especially interested in clinical diagnostic dermatology. He and his office staff work closely with Dr. Hansen's office to coordinate ultraviolet treatments and specialty procedures such as Moh's surgery. Dr. Thoene's leisure interests include golf and spectator sports, especially the Padres and Chargers. He works in the office at 514 South Magnolia Avenue in El Cajon.
