About Matthew Schwedfeger, DDS

Hi I’m Dr. Matt Schwedfeger. I was born and raised in Rochester, NY, and graduated from McQuaid Jesuit High School. From there I moved on to Villanova University where I earned a B.S. degree in Biological Sciences. I then traveled to Baltimore where I received my D.D.S. degree from my father’s alma mater, the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. After dental school I returned home to Rochester and began one year of post graduate training at the Strong Hospital and the Eastman Institute for Oral Health. There I received vast training in treating medically compromised and special needs patients as well as furthering my education in the areas of cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery endodontics and prosthodontics. I am an active member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, New York State Dental Association and the Monroe Country Dental Society. Over the past year and a half I have begun additional training in the art of implant dentistry at the Midwest Implant Institute with my father. I am so proud of him for recently receiving his Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry for his continuing education. I will also strive to be one of the very few dentists in the country who have this prestigious award. Since I had a great experience during my post graduate training at Strong Hospital I have decided to go back and work as part-time faculty and staff to work with the residents of the Eastman Institute for Oral Health. I am eagerly looking forward to working at Village Smiles. I have been around the office and all the wonderful staff for years, some of which I have known almost my whole life. I look forward to meeting all of you and being able to provide to you the best dental treatment that you, your family and friends all deserve. Besides dentistry, my interests include golf, the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, and of course Villanova basketball. I am an avid sports fan and I love being able to share these interests with my friends and family. I currently live with my girlfriend, Kacey, in the Park Ave neighborhood in downtown Rochester.
