About Mark Sawyer, DDS
Dr. Mark Sawyer, DDS, grew up in Skokie – not far from here! He enjoys the simple pleasures of working with his hands, helping people, and growing his business in a way that helps the community. He makes a deep impact in people’s lives in a quiet way – like the way a small ripple on the surface of the ocean eventually touches many shores. Dentistry isn’t the type of profession where we save lives, build big buildings, lead big companies, or invent new things, says Dr. Sawyer. But what we do is pretty involved. People come to us scared and afraid, and we do pretty amazing stuff to help make their lives a little better. Although he’s always been interested in science and math, and enjoys the technical side of dentistry, Dr. Sawyer says the fulfillment in his job comes entirely from serving patients. He’s focused on finding even better ways to serve the Chicago community as he grows his practice in exciting new ways. Dr. Sawyer understands what excellent dental service is all about. Patients are often most thankful when they feel their care has been less painful, easier, or quicker than they had expected it to be. My hope is to make them feel at ease, he says. Dr. Sawyer graduated from Illinois University College of Dentistry in 1984. The perseverance it took to get through dental school is also necessary in practice, says Dr. Sawyer. He views dentistry as an ever-evolving challenge and is committed to grow his practice in new ways over the next many years. His primary focus is building long-term relationships with patients and serving them in a manner that makes them want to choose him as their dentist for life. Dr. Sawyer and his wife of 27 years have three children and aren’t quite empty-nesters yet. Their eldest moved away to work for a solar energy company, their youngest is finishing college and has a promising career ahead in sports communication, and their daughter lives at home and works as a make-up artist for MAC. When I’m not in the office, I tend to spend most of my time with my family and puttering around the house, says Dr. Sawyer. He also enjoys staying in shape by swimming and jogging.
