About Maria Kessides, MD

Maria Kessides was delighted to join Kaiser Permanente in December 2015. With your help, I hope to treat your skin conditions to the best of my ability and look forward to working with you in the future. I grew up in the Washington D.C. area and attended Princeton University for my undergraduate studies. I then attended Georgetown University School of Medicine, where I developed a passion for dermatology. I believe that the appearance of our skin significantly affects our self-confidence, professional experiences, and how we relate to other people. In helping my patients take care of their skin I have the opportunity to positively impact their daily lives. After a year of research at Johns Hopkins University, I went on to pursue my dermatology residency in New York, and following the completion of my training, I moved to the Bay Area. The reason I was drawn to Kaiser Permanente was its commitment to the highest quality patient care. I am particularly interested in teaching my patients about preventative steps they can take to protect and nourish their skin. I believe that not every treatment is right for every patient and that we must make our management decisions together. We are fortunate to have multiple treatments for many dermatologic conditions, and I will do my best to present you with what I feel to be the most effective and appropriate options.
