About Lysandro O. Tapnio, DMD

Dr. Lysandro Sonny Tapnio graduated in 1977 from University of East Philippines and earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (D.M.D.) He did a postdoctoral residency at the New York University Dental Center from 1983 to 1984, studying clinical courses in general dentistry. After he completed his courses at New York University, he began his own dental practice in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1985. Since 1985, he has completed several hundred hours in post-graduate continuing education courses, including hands-on training courses all over the country. These courses include orthodontic courses for general dentists, comprehensive cosmetic and restorative techniques, concept of complete dentistry, and current developments in restorative materials and techniques, just to name a few. He has earned Mastership and Fellowship status in the American Dental Implant Association, and is proud to offer dental implant placements and restorations as part of his list of services. Dr. Tapnio remains committed to high ethics and quality dentistry. He pampers his patients with personal attention and customer service with a calm and caring chairside manner. Because Dr. Tapnio is the only dentist in the office, you may expect great attention to detail and the peace of mind that one person knows your specific case and is the one you will always see. Known to many as the Gentle Dentist, Dr. Tapnio has a very calm and reassuring manner with both children and adults. The dental anxiety that many experience is soon overcome, and visiting the dentist becomes a pleasant experience for the whole family. His gentle and soft touch is especially appreciated when there is need for local anesthesia. In fact, it is not uncommon to hear, Did you already give me a shot Doc? I didn’t even feel it! Dr. Tapnio has been happily married for 34 years to Nicca Tapnio, with two kids, and four grandchildren. The recreational activities he enjoys most are fishing and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
