About Lloyd Gayle

Dr. Lloyd B. Gayle is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education of the City College of New York, where he was on the Dean’s List and graduated cum laude. Dr. Gayle then earned his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine.Dr. Gayle has completed extensive postdoctoral training. He was both a Resident and Chief Resident in General Surgery at Booth Memorial Medical Center. Subsequently, Dr. Gayle was a Resident in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at New York Hospital/Cornell University Medical Center. In addition, he was a Fellow in Hand and Microsurgery at the Ralph K. Davies Medical Center in the Microsurgical Replantation Transplantation Department.Dr. Gayle holds academic appointments as Director of Plastic Surgery Resident Education and Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He developed and directs the flap anatomy and dissection course for plastic surgery residents, lectures on microsurgery to general and plastic surgery residents and conducts a lecture series on peripheral nerve surgery to the Department of Neurosurgery.He is also currently the Director of Plastic Surgery and Vice-Chairman of Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center, an Attending Surgeon in Plastics at the Hospital for Special Surgery and an Associate Attending Surgeon in the Division of Plastic Surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Gayle developed the microsurgery section of the Division of Plastic Surgery, provides plastic surgery consultation for orthopedic trauma service at New York Hospital and established the hand clinic at New York Hospital-Queens, where he provides weekly hand clinic coverage. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal Society of Medicine, Dr. Gayle also serves as Secretary of the New York Academy of Medicine. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Medical Society of the State of New York, New York County Medical Society, American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, among others.
