About Liam A. Doran, DMD
Dr. Doran was born in Ireland and shortly thereafter moved with his family to the United States. He grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut where he graduated from Greenwich High School. Dr. Doran attended Western Connecticut State University and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. Following his undergraduate education, Dr. Doran attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Upon completion of his dental degree, Dr. Doran spent an additional year of training in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. It was there that Dr. Doran expanded his skills in treatment planning, implant dentistry, and prosthetic and restorative care. Immediately upon completion of his residency, Dr. Doran joined Avon Family Dentistry in 2004 and was invited to become a partner in 2008. He is an active member of the Hartford Dental Society, the Connecticut State Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. He remains active with the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine as a class representative for the Alumni Association as well as working with the many dental students that pass through the office as part of the school’s externship program. Dr. Doran has been involved with the Town of Farmington Youth Mentoring Program as well as with the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford as dental educator. Dr. Doran has also volunteered and provided free dental work at the annual Connecticut Mission of Mercy event. Dr. Doran has been named by his peers as a Top Dentist in Hartford Magazine for the past four years. Dr. Doran lives in town with his wife, Sarah, and their two children. They both enjoy hiking the various trails in the Farmington Valley and restoring their mid-19th century home in Avon (which keeps them quite busy!). Dr. Doran is an avid sports fan and enjoys following the New York Mets and the UConn Huskies. In the warmer months, Dr. Doran can be found running the Farmington Canal Greenway and kicking the soccer ball around with his friends and family.
