About Lawrence Desjarlais, MD
Dr. Desjarlais began his educational experience graduating from the University of Michigan Honors College with a BS degree in Biochemistry in 1984. After 3 years of research in the UM Department of Dermatology he then attended Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated medical school in 1991 and returned to the UM to complete a residency in Dermatology. Upon completion of his residency, he earned his board certification as a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD). Dr. Desjarlais began his practice in 1994 in Adrian, Michigan. He is committed to career long learning and teaching. He performed his first laser treatment here in 1996. He has been evaluating and adopting new technologies and techniques since then. He is a member of speaker boards for various pharmaceutical companies and participates in clinical research studies, as well as provides necessary feedback to these companies from clinical trials. Dr. Desjarlais regularly presents information to other area physicians for continuing education in dermatological issues and patient care. He frequently consults with local physicians for optimal patient care in numerous settings in the area. Dr. Desjarlais provides training opportunities and acts as a training center for several laser companies, including Alma and Sciton lasers. He also is a speaker for these companies, sharing his knowledge and techniques with other offices and spas around the country. Dr. Desjarlais continually serves as a faculty member of Flower Hospital Family Practice Residency Program. He received their teacher of the year honors twice as voted by the resident physicians who trained with him. He has been a member of the Lenawee County Medical Society since 1995, and has served as president for the past 12 years. Dr. Desjarlais also participates in annual events sponsored by the American Cancer Society as well as sponsoring various community events. Dr. Desjarlais maintains a busy general dermatology practice as well as a technologically advanced cosmetic practice.
