About Justin R. Messina, DMD

A full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, with dual-degrees in Medicine and Dentistry, practicing with some of the most advanced training in dentoalveolar surgery, dental implant therapy, complex bone grafting, reconstructive jaw surgery, and facial augmentation. Dr. Justin Messina is a dual degree Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, with training as both a dentist (DMD) and medical doctor (MD), allowing him to practice the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures. He earned his Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He excelled in his training, graduating number one in his class with the highest academic standing, serving as President of the Matthew Cryer Honor Society, and gaining membership into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society upon his graduation. He then matriculated and pursued one of the highest academic achievements, earning his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at the prestigious Harvard Medical School. He pursued specialty training at the Harvard/Massachusetts General Hospital Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program, gaining extensive training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and subspecialty training in Anesthesiology, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Head and Neck surgery. Dr. Messina has served as the Harvard Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program liaison to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), representing Harvard University as a key member of the northeast division of the surgical society. Dr. Messina has published in peer reviewed national and international Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery journals, and he has earned dental implant awards sponsored by Straumann USA and Geistlisch Biomaterials. Dr. Messina brings an immense wealth of knowledge and surgical prowess to Riverside Oral Surgery, joining the tradition of advanced, comprehensive office and hospital based treatment of the oral and maxillofacial patient community. His experience and his passion for orthognathic surgery and the use of derma fillers and neurotoxins such as Botox® compliment the already extensive array of services our surgeons provide.
