Frequently Asked Questions

How is a Nose Job performed?

Dr. Cabin performs rhinoplasty as an outpatient procedure under general anesthetic. He uses open or closed incisions during rhinoplasty surgery and tailors each procedure to his patient. Open rhinoplasty surgery is commonly used for modifications to the middle portion of the nose or nasal tip. Closed rhinoplasty surgery is often used for modifications inside the nostrils or bridge modifications. Dr. Cabin's decision to perform open or closed rhinoplasty surgery varies based on the patient and his or her treatment goals. Dr. Cabin also requests follow-up appointments with a rhinoplasty patient after surgery. These appointments allow Dr. Cabin to track a rhinoplasty patient's progress and help this individual optimize his or her treatment results.

Can Nose surgery improve breathing?

Rhinoplasty can alter the cartilage and bone structure in and under the nose, making it easier to breathe by providing a more clear airway. For those who struggle with breathing or have a deviated septum, nose surgery can be a gamechanger.

How long does it take to recover from nose surgery?

For the first week after nose surgery, it is advised to rest and avoid any kind of strenuous activity. After a week, you can return to work. A full recovery from rhinoplasty surgery generally takes about 3 to 4 weeks. After 3 to 4 weeks, most if not all swelling and bruising will subside and the patient can now inspect their new and improved nose! If after 3 to 4 weeks there are still signs of trauma or any discomfort, contact Dr. Cabin or another medical professional.

How is Facelift surgery performed?

Facelift surgery is usually completed under general anesthesia and performed as an outpatient procedure, and a typical facelift requires about three to four hours to complete. During a facelift, Dr. Cabin makes his initial incisions and separates the facial and neck skin from underlying tissue and muscle. He next repositions facial and neck tissue and muscle. Dr. Cabin also removes excess skin as needed. Finally, Dr. Cabin lays the remaining skin over the facial and neck tissue and muscle. The facelift recovery process takes several weeks to complete. At this time, a patient may experience bruising, swelling and other short-term side effects. Dr. Cabin provides aftercare instructions to each of his facelift patients. These instructions must be followed to achieve the best-possible facelift results.

Does Botox help with migraines?

While Botox® has been shown to be effective in treating chronic migraines, it is still not entirely clear why these migraine injections work. There is evidence to suggest that Botox works on various levels to reduce the triggering and signalling of sensory nerves, that may be involved in setting off migraines within the brain. The key to effective treatment is to make sure the Botox® injections impact the patient’s trigger sites. It is important to schedule a consultation with an expert, who can use their detailed knowledge of anatomy to determine the best Botox® migraine injection sites.

What can I expect from a Brow Lift?

During an endoscopic brow lift, Dr. Cabin makes an incision above a patient's temples. Dr. Cabin next inserts a fiber optic camera that enables him to perform the procedure below a patient's skin. He then examines the treatment area and makes a small incision into a patient's eyebrow. At this time, Dr. Cabin loosens or removes muscle, pulls tissue and skin upward and stitches up the treatment area. A typical endoscopic brow lift requires about an hour to complete. Patients sometimes experience swelling and bruising in the initial days after an endoscopic brow lift, and these symptoms may last for three to seven days. Additionally, the end results of an endoscopic brow lift often remain visible for up to 10 years.
