About John F. Teichgraeber, MD

John Teichgraeber, MD, is a Professor in the Division of Plastic and Craniofacial Surgery in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHealth). He attended Stanford University and Williams College for his undergraduate education. While attending Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration he switched his career path to medicine. He graduated from Emory University Medical School and completed his ENT residency at Emory University Hospitals followed by an ENT fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He decided to continue his training to specialize in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery doing an additional residency at UT Medical School and then another year of training in craniofacial surgery. He has served as Director of the UT Cleft and Craniofacial Team since 1996. He is Board Certified in both Otolaryngology and in Plastic Surgery. Among his many honors and awards are Dean’s Teaching Excellence Awards, Best Doctors in America (2005-2006, 2011-2012) and the House of Charity Humanitarian of the Year Award. He continues to go on medical mission trips to treat children born with cleft lips and palates. Dr. Teichgraeber has many loves in addition to his wife and two daughters. He is an avid golfer and a gourmet cook. Before settling on a career in medicine, he had worked as a US Park Ranger and remains an outdoor enthusiast. He is committed to obtaining the best possible outcomes for children born with craniofacial disorders and proud of the wonderful team of specialists who are part of the UT Cleft and Craniofacial Team.
