About John Mamoun, DMD

Dr. John Mamoun graduated in 1999 from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. degree in Political Science, while taking a pre-medical program and volunteering his time performing immunology research in the medical school there. After Penn, he graduated from the dental school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. While still an undergraduate there, he published three articles in top academic dental journals, such as the Journal of the American Dental Association, subscribed to by over 140,000 dentists, and the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, the pre-eminent dental journal for Prosthodontic dental specialists. Following graduation, Dr. Mamoun attended an extra year of residency training in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at the Eastman Dental Center, a world-renowned post-graduate dental training center, part of the University of Rochester, in Rochester, NY. While at Eastman, Dr. Mamoun published two other articles, including one with the professor who was chairman of his program. From there, Dr. Mamoun earned the Fellowship status of the Academy of General Dentistry, at the age of 29 becomming probably the youngest dentist ever to achieve this award, which requires over 500 hours of extra educational training and passing of a 400-question multiple-choice exam testing advanced dental knowledge. Dr. Mamoun was able to acquire this award relatively early because he received credit for his various publications, including a cover story on preventing sharps injuries in dentistry, that he published in General Dentistry, the journal of the Academy of General Dentistry.
