About Jay A. Nelson, DMD

Dr. Jay Nelson has been proudly serving the dental needs of his friends and neighbors in Lutz, Land O’Lakes, Wesley Chapel, and the surrounding communities since 1987. Dr. Nelson earned his bachelor's degree summa cum laude from Rutgers University and his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics, the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, and he is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. In addition to practicing at a high level, Dr. Nelson also serves as a professional consultant to the dental industry. You may have seen him discussing advances in modern dentistry on WFLA (NBC), WTVT (FOX), or WTOG (UPN). He has trained with some of the world’s most prominent cosmetic dentists and has attended dental training facilities such as the Center for Advanced Dental Studies and the Pankey Institute. Most recently, he has completed courses on advanced laser techniques, earning proficiency certification from the Academy of Laser Dentistry and a fellowship from the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry. This continuing education allows Dr. Nelson to offer the most recent advances in cosmetic, restorative, and laser dentistry. In 2010, Dr. Nelson became interested in treating snoring and sleep apnea with dental appliances and began working with the country’s major authorities in this relatively new discipline. As a direct result of many hours of training and implementation, his office became the first facility accredited by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine in the state of Florida. Dr. Nelson and his wife, Susan, have two wonderful daughters, Amanda and Rachel. In his spare time, Dr. Nelson enjoys reading, attending concerts, and travel.
