Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the rhinoplasty procedure take?

The duration of a rhinoplasty varies greatly depending on the complexity of your procedure. Primary rhinoplasties are typically range from 1.5-3 hours, and average 2 hours. Revision procedures can take longer, particularly when cartilage from the ear or rib is required.

What are the surgical options for rhinoplasty? I’ve heard of open versus closed.

Closed rhinoplasty signifies that all incisions are concealed on the inside of the nose. Open rhinoplasty also includes a very small incision across the skin that separates your nostrils called the columella. The resultant scar is virtually imperceptible once fully healed. The open approach affords your surgeon better exposure to the nasal anatomy, and in particular to the nasal tip. The decision to perform your rhinoplasty open or closed all depends on what your individual needs and goals are. During your consultation, Dr Jason will be able to advise you on the best option for your particular needs.

How long do implants last?

Implants do not need to be changed or altered unless a problem occurs. On average, 50% of implants are exchanged or removed for various reasons by 10 years. A patients’ desire for a size change, or switching from saline to silicone are some of the more common reasons. With the newest generation of implants, ruptures are more rare. Capsular Contracture, the formation of a tight or painful capsule around the implant, is one of the most common complications that can require removal or exchange of your implant. The risk of capsular contracture developing, on average, is approximately 2%/year based on the latest FDA data.

What size implant can I get, How big can I go?

During your initial consultation, Dr. Jason Roostaeian will work with you to determine the right size and shape of implants for your body type. Dr. Jason specializes in natural looking breast enhancements and believes an increase of one-two cup sizes is ideal for most body types. Larger breast augmentations can be performed depending on the amount of laxity (skin sag) in the breast. Good communication with Dr. Jason is crucial to help ensure your size satisfaction.
