About James E. Vogel, MD

Dr. James Vogel has been voted a “Top Doctor in Baltimore” by Baltimore magazine and is known for his professionalism, friendly demeanor, honesty, and natural results. Dr. James Vogel is an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in the Division of Plastic Surgery, was named a Top Doc by Baltimore Magazine, and lectures nationally and internationally on topics in cosmetic surgery. Dr. James Vogel did his undergraduate work at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, where he studied biochemistry, and then went on to earn a medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, New York. Dr. Vogel next completed his general surgery residencies at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston and at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He then completed a plastic surgery residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, which included maxillo-facial and microvascular surgery training at the Maryland Institute for Emergency Services – Shock Trauma unit. After this training, Dr. Vogel decided to pursue his career as a plastic surgeon in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. James Vogel was promoted to the academic rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He participates in the teaching of medical students and residents in plastic surgery training. He also holds professional memberships in the following professional societies: the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Baltimore County Medical Society, Johns Hopkins Medical Society, Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of the State of Maryland, Nathan Womack Surgical Society, Northeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, and the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (President 1996 – 1997; Executive Committee 1996 – 1999; Board of Governors 1993 – 1998; Chairman, Scientific Committee 1993 – 1999). In addition, Dr. James Vogel has surgery privileges at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Northwest Hospital. Dr. James Vogel is especially interested in cosmetic facial surgery, cosmetic breast surgery, hair transplant surgery, and liposuction and body contouring.
