About James P. Milite, MD

Dr. Milite is one of the region’s most respected reconstructive and cosmetic oculoplastic surgeons, bringing over fifteen years of experience in his field to the care of his patients. His areas of expertise include treatment of eyelid malpositions, management of periocular tumors and care of patients with lacrimal system and orbital disease. Dr. Milite is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Fordham University, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. He received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He served as chief resident in general ophthalmology at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and completed fellowships in both ophthalmic plastic surgery and eye pathology at the same Institution. A board-certified Ophthalmologist, Dr. Milite is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is an attending physician at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and St Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. Dr. Milite has been a long-standing member of the ocular trauma service at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, one of the country’s leading eye trauma centers. He is also a member of the faculty of The Infirmary and Mount Sinai School of Medicine and has served as a teaching attending in the OR and clinic to many eye residents and fellows. He is a preceptor in one of 34 fellowships (credentialed by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery) to train graduate ophthalmology residents as oculoplastic and orbital surgeons. In addition, Dr. Milite has helped provide medical care to under-served populations in the third world with the Volunteer Health Program. He has lectured extensively in the tri-state area, nationally in his specialty. He has authored numerous book chapters and research papers in his field. The prestigious Castle Connelly Guide has consistently selected Dr. Milite as one of the top eye surgeons in the New York Metro Area.
