About J Wade Mcphaul, DDS
The youngest of three boys, Dr. McPhaul grew up in Charlotte. He attended Charlotte Christian School, where he met his future wife in the seventh grade! Upon graduation from Charlotte Christian School, he attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. During his undergraduates studies, Dr. McPhaul was introduced to dentistry – a career that combined his love of science and God’s creation with his desire to help others through the use of his hands. Having known Dr. Armstrong since childhood, he served as one of Dr. McPhaul’s earliest mentors. He would go on to pursue a degree in Dentistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he graduated with honors. After graduation, he and his wife, who is also a dentist, returned to Charlotte to practice and start a family. Dr. McPhaul joined Charlotte Dentistry as an associate in 2006 and became a partner in the practice in 2012. Dr. McPhaul tells everyone, “Joining Charlotte Dentistry was a blessing and an easy decision as I have a strong passion for serving others in a Christ-centered environment which is the mission of Charlotte Dentistry. I am grateful to be a part of such a unique and special practice”. Known for his skill, as well as his patient and reassuring manner; Dr. McPhaul’s patients often comment on how gentle, comforting, and genuinely caring he is. One of the most rewarding parts of his job is helping even the most apprehensive patients overcome their fears and anxiety and leave the office feeling comfortable and excited about their dental treatment. Dr. McPhaul believes that the keys to being a great dentist are to listen to his patients’ needs and desires, to care for and serve his patients’ as if they are his own family members, and to partner with his patients to help them achieve their goals for optimal oral health. When asked about himself, Dr. McPhaul emphasizes that his relationship with Jesus Christ is the center of his life, work, and home. He and his wife are blessed with two wonderful children who keep him very busy. He enjoys participating in his church, coaching his children’s sports, playing golf, fishing, and traveling – especially to Disney World. He is a fan of Tarheel sports, Alabama and Panthers football, and Hornets basketball. Dr. McPhaul is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the North Carolina Dental Society, the Charlotte Dental Society, and attends numerous continuing education courses each year in restorative and cosmetic dentistry.
