About Ira D. Papel, MD
Dr. Ira D. Papel is a board-certified facial plastic surgeon who specializes in facial cosmetic surgery, especially rhinoplasty, facelifts, brow lifts, eyelid procedures, and facial injectables. Dr. Papel earned his B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University and his M.D. from Boston University of Medicine. He completed a residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Papel is considered an international expert in rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, and facial aesthetic surgery. He successfully combines cosmetic and reconstructive surgery to benefit his patients both functionally and aesthetically. Not only does he use his outstanding skills to help patients in the Baltimore area and beyond, but he has also served as a visiting professor at more than 40 universities in the United States and abroad. A Professor at JOHNS HOPKINS, Dr. Papel teaches medical students, fellows, and residents in their surgical training. His textbook, FACIAL PLASTIC, & RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY, now in its fourth edition is the largest selling facial plastic surgery book worldwide and is published in three languages His active role in the facial plastic surgery community has kept him in tune with contemporary facial advancements to the benefit of his patients. He has served as president of the AMERICAN ACADEMY OF FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY, Facial Plastic Surgeons in Baltimore, MD and also the AMERICAN BOARD OF FACIAL PLASTIC AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY, which board certifies surgeons in this specialty.
