About Hina I. Ahmad, MD

Dr. Hina Ahmad was born and raised in Chicago, IL. She completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University Chicago, where she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelors degree in Biology in 2004. She decided to stay in her hometown of Chicago and attended medical school at Rush University Medical Center, where she graduated in 2008. She stayed at Rush University Medical Center to complete both her internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Dermatology, where she served as chief resident. After completing residency in 2012, Dr. Ahmad pursued a rigorous one year Mohs micrographic surgery fellowship with Dr. Richard Bennett in Santa Monica, CA. Her training focused on complex skin oncology which included Mohs for melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, merkel cell carcinoma, sebaceous carcinoma, microcystic adnexal carcinoma, atypical fibroxanthoma, malignant fibrous histiocytoma, leiomyosarcoma, perineural and intravascular tumors, and other rare skin tumors. Her training with Dr. Bennett also concentrated heavily on reconstructive surgery, where she often had the opportunity to work with and teach rotating Dermatology and Plastic surgery residents. Additionally, as part of her fellowship, she worked at the University of Southern California, helping teach Mohs and reconstructive surgery to residents and medical students. She also saw and treated patients at the hidradenitis suppuritiva clinic at the University of California Los Angeles, helping perform curative excisions for this often difficult to treat disease. As a result of her extensive training, Dr. Ahmad is one of the few fellowship trained Mohs and dermatologic surgeons in the East Bay. She is a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the Women’s Dermatologic Society. Her clinical interests include general Dermatology, Mohs micrographic surgery, complex cutaneous oncology, and reconstructive surgery.
