About David A. Galbraith, DMD

David was born in Miami, Florida on October 21, 1949. Initially raised as a native Floridian, he moved eventually to Port Washington, New York in 1960 where he completed junior and senior high school. From New York, David moved on to Pennsylvania where he obtained a B.A. degree from Gettysburg College. Prior to formally entering professional school David went on to graduate school at Rutgers University in New Jersey where he spent a year attending a Masters Program in Medical Physiology. He began his formal professional training when he entered dental school at Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry in 1972. Upon graduation summa cum laude in 1976 he received the D.M.D. degree. David completed his training by attending a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Connecticut Health Center Affiliated Residency Program between 1976 and 1979. From that point forward he has worked in the private medical and dental community of Northern Connecticut in a practice limited to the practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He is currently a partner and the “managing partner” of Connecticut Maxillofacial Surgeons, L.L.C. He only recently retired from a position as Director of the Section of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Department of Dentistry at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center which he held for more than twenty years. On the academic side of the specialty David has received one of the highest honors in the profession by having served a full six year term on the Advisory Committee of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons where he also acted as a Co-Chairman for the Major Surgery Section examining on orthognathic surgery, facial trauma, aesthetic surgery and craniofacial surgery. David has lectured abroad and at home extensively on the topics of temporomandibular joint disease and orthognathic surgery. He enjoys a part-time faculty appointment in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Connecticut and is a Senior Active Attending at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center. He is also on the Courtesy Staff at Hartford Hospital. As a pass time David enjoys playing golf, being with his twin sons and living with his wife Carol.
