About Danielle Engler, MD

Danielle Engler, MD, a board certified dermatologist, has been a full-time physician in our practice since September, 2011. She initially joined our dermatology practice in 1999 on a part-time basis. Dr. Engler specializes in complex medical and pediatric dermatology and skin cancer prevention and detection. A cum laude graduate of Smith College, Dr. Engler received her MD degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. She completed her Dermatology residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, as well as two years of Pediatric training at Babies Hospital. During the years that Dr. Engler was working with us on a part-time basis, she was also serving as Director of the Dermatology Clinic, Residency Program Director, medical student advisor, and Vice Chair of Quality Assurance and Patient Safety for the Department of Dermatology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. In that position she held an appointment as an Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University and Associate Attending in Dermatology at the Columbia University Medical Center. She received the Teacher of the Year award five times during her tenure. She is the author of numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and is often consulted by her colleagues on challenging diagnostic cases. Dr. Engler has worked with the N.Y.C. Department of Health to improve patient safety with respect to dermatologic products and procedures. She has served as an expert for articles on skin care in magazines and has been featured on television and radio. She currently maintains an active academic affiliation with Columbia, where she continues to teach, supervise, and advise dermatology residents and medical students in the Dermatology Clinic. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and is a member of numerous other professional organizations, including the Medical Dermatology Society, the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, the Psoriasis Foundation, and the Dermatologic Society of Greater New York. Dr. Engler lives in Westchester with her husband, Alan M. Engler, MD, a plastic surgeon in Manhattan. They have two sons.
