About Charles H. Miller, MD

I grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. After majoring in biology, I accepted a military scholarship that paid for medical school at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. I did my internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and although we have many doctors in my family, this was where I was first introduced to dermatology as a specialty, and I loved it. At the end of my internship, I met my future wife. We dated for three years and during this time I served as a physician with the United States Marines in North Carolina. We married after she finished her obstetrics and gynecology residency andthen moved to San Diego so I could start my dermatology residency at Balboa Naval Medical Center. Then, we went to Guam for two years with the United States Navy. We returned to San Diego and I have been with Kaiser Permanente ever since. The best parts of my practice are the nice members and wonderful colleagues I get to interact with every day. Being able to discuss cases and treatment options with my colleagues, who happen to also be my friends, helps keep me up-to-date so that I can give the very latest and greatest in therapeutic options to my members with skin disease. Practicing at Kaiser Permanente allows me time to participate in local medical communities. I am a past president of the San Diego Dermatological Society. I lecture regularly at UC San Diego and Scripps Health on dermatology and digital imaging. I have family practice doctors rotate with me (they may see you during your appointment as well) to learn basic dermatology . Most of my free time is spent with my two sons. We enjoy sports like tennis, swimming, racquetball, and a little golf. I also like reading, traveling, and digital photography.
