About Charles D. Long, MD

Charles Long, MD is a native of Philadelphia. After obtaining his medical degree from Temple University, he completed a general surgery residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. As a chief resident, he distinguished himself by receiving all three teaching awards from the university and a commendation from the Department of Veterans Affairs for outstanding service at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. Dr. Long was trained by the world-renowned faculty at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in the latest techniques of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, and returned to Philadelphia to join MCP-Hahnemann University as an Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery, where he again won awards for teaching. He subsequently moved his practice to Jenkintown, and continues to teach students and residents at Abington Memorial Hospital. He frequently updates his plastic surgery knowledge through seminars and continuing medical education, and recently passed his plastic surgery board re-certification. Dr. Long has presented scientific papers to local, national, and international conferences, and has been asked to lecture around the country. He has won an award for research in cosmetic surgery, and has published journal articles and book chapters on a wide variety of topics, including a book devoted to wound healing for which he was co-editor. Board-certified in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery, Dr. Long is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He brings his skill and talent as a reconstructive surgeon to the art of cosmetic surgery, and is devoted to the care and well-being of his patients.
