About Carl A. Powell, DO

Dr. Carl Powell is a Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon in San Diego. Dr. Powell has performed over 6000 surgical procedures over the course of a twenty-five-year career. Dr. Powell is a Past President of the California Academy of Cosmetic Surgery where he was recognized by his fellow cosmetic surgeons for his outstanding skills and contributions to the Cosmetic Surgery specialty. Dr. Powell grew up in California, attended undergraduate school at the United States Naval Academy and Boston University, graduate school at University of West Florida and San Diego State University, medical school at Western University of Health Sciences (College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific), Internship at Portsmouth Regional Medical Center, Residency training at University of California, Davis/University of California, San Francisco and sub-specialty training at Baylor University. Dr. Powell received the “Most Outstanding Student” award graduating in the top ten percent of his medical school class and was recognized in his residency program for his outstanding achievements. Dr. Powell is well known and respected not only in California but also all over the country for his expertise as a Cosmetic Surgeon. Dr. Powell served as the program chair for the CACS Annual Cosmetic Surgery Educational Meeting in 2012, He lectures and teaches at Cosmetic Surgery educational meetings and workshops, trains Cosmetic Surgeons on the newest Cosmetic Surgery techniques and procedures and is requested by his cosmetic surgery colleagues to perform cosmetic surgery on themselves and their family members. He serves as an Oral Examiner for the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery testing aspiring Cosmetic Surgeons for their Board Certification and he serves as a Surveyor for the Institute for Quality Medicine (IMQ) surveying office based operating rooms for accreditation to perform Conscious Sedation and General Anesthesia surgical cases in an office setting. Additionally, he serves as a Delegate to the California Medical Association House of Delegates and as a Board of Director for the San Diego Chapter of the California Medical Association. Dr. Powell has published articles on Cosmetic Surgery procedures and treatments in several well-respected publications. As one of the top board certified cosmetic surgeons in San Diego, Dr. Powell has dedicated himself to the Cosmetic Surgery specialty for the last eleven years. He is a well-educated, trained, experienced and proficient Cosmetic Surgeon who is striving to bring the full spectrum of Cosmetic Surgery procedures to San Diego County. He maintains hospital privileges at several hospitals in San Diego County.
