About Benjamin E. Cohen, MD

Dr. Benjamin Cohen, a Georgia native, attended Columbia College in New York, and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Medical School. Dr Cohen received his general and plastic surgery training in Boston at Harvard and the Massachusetts General Hospital. In addition, he spent two years doing research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Following completion of his training, he spent a year as Harvard's Moseley Traveling Fellow doing clinical study and research at Oxford University in England. After moving to Houston, he was a member of the Cronin, Brauer, and Biggs Clinic Association for 10 years. Subsequently, the Cohen and Cronin Clinic Association was formed with Dr. Ernest Cronin. Dr. Cohen is the Program Director of the Residency Program in Plastic Surgery at The Methodist Hospital. He is a past president of the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Houston Society of Plastic Surgeons and has been an advisor to the Reach to Recovery Breast Reconstruction Program of the American Cancer Society. He holds an appointment as a Clinical Professor of Surgery (plastic and reconstructive) at Weill-Cornell Medical College in New York City. He is one of a small number of plastic surgeons in the United States chosen by his peers to be included in The Best Doctors in America. In a survey of nurses conducted by Houston Metropolitan Magazine, he was selected as one of the ""100 best doctors in Houston"". In 2007 it was announced in Texas Monthly that he was chosen by his peers as a “Super Doctor”. Dr. Cohen has published over 100 medical journal articles or book chapters on various plastic surgery topics. He is board certified (and recertified) by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and is a member in good standing of many national medical societies including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons,the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery from which he has received the Certificate of Advanced Education in Cosmetic Surgery.
