About Barry D. Isdaner, DDS
As far back as he can remember, Dr. Isdaner always wanted to be in the medical field as his lifelong career – but he also loved working directly with his hands to create new things. Dentistry combined both of these goals into one worthwhile profession while also allowing him to help people in genuine need. After completing his undergraduate degree at Penn State, Dr. Isdaner attended Temple University School of Dentistry for his doctorate – and he graduated in only three and a half years! He then served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, stationed at Fort Sill, OK. After leaving the Army, he returned home to Philadelphia and worked a few years in a private dental office setting while making plans to open his very own dental office. In 1977, he achieved that goal here in Willow Grove; 10 years later, he also opened a second location in Spring House! Dr. Isdaner is very passionate about continuing education and has taken numerous courses over the course of his career, covering topics like dental implants, dental sleep medicine, medical emergencies in the dental office, endodontics, dental crowns and bridges, dentures, nutrition, restorative bonding, oral surgery, pediatric dentistry, senior dental care, and nitrous oxide sedation – just to name a few. He’s also regularly volunteered his services at no charge to “battered women” who have been unable to afford dental care; this work gives him a great deal of satisfaction and pleasure. Dr. Isdaner’s most important passion and the one he enjoys the most is spending quality time with his family, which includes his wife, two grown daughters, and three grandchildren. He also has a wonderful little dog named Sidney. He really enjoyed snow skiing in his free time before back injuries prohibited him from doing it again. His personal hobbies today include writing, reading, and traveling – he’s visited many countries over the years! He’s also very active in his synagogue and the local community, serving in roles like Committee Chair, Board Member, Officer, President, and 1st Vice President of the Greater Philadelphia Federation of Reform Congregations.
