About Anthony T. Dioguardi, DMD

Dr. Tony Dioguardi graduated magna cum laude from SUNY at Buffalo in 1979. He received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from UCONN Health Center School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1983, receiving honors in the field of Oral Pathology. He completed his general practice dental residency at the West Haven V.A. Hospital, receiving emergency care training through the Hospital of Saint Raphael Department of Oral Surgery. He served in the capacity of Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Yale-New Haven Hospital Department of Dentistry, and has lectured on management of dental emergencies. Dr. Dioguardi has received extensive post–doctoral training in cosmetic, restorative, implant and reconstructive dentistry. He believes that optimal results are achieved through the team approach, and regularly works closely with dental specialists. In 2016, Dr. Dioguardi established the Yale-New Haven Hospital Department of Dentistry’s lecture series in Dental Sleep Medicine, one of the first of it's kind in the country. He has attended in the Department of Restorative Dentistry as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery and has lectured on management of dental emergencies. Dr. Dioguardi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM)1. The ABDSM is the board for the leading national organization of dentists who treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy, an effective alternative treatment to commonly used CPAP machines. Earning Diplomate status from the ABDSM is a unique honor that recognizes special competency in dental sleep medicine. Dental Sleep Medicine is not recognized as a specialty area by the American Dental Association. As an active participant with Yale University’s Sleep Medicine post-doctorate fellowship program2 since 2011 he provides clinical and academic instruction in the dental treatment of sleep disordered breathing. He regularly gives lectures to the Yale University Department of Sleep Medicine and the Connecticut State Sleep Conference on the subject of dental sleep medicine. In March, 2016, Dr. Dioguardi was named to the editorial advisory board of Sleep Review, a leading publication for sleep specialists. His association memberships include American Dental Association, Connecticut Dental Association, the New Haven Dental Association, the National Sleep Foundation and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. He has been named one of the top 100 dentists in CT Magazine and was listed in the topDentist issue of New Haven Living Magazine. His cosmetic dentistry has been featured in Cosmedent Magazine. Dr. Dioguardi resides in Guilford with his wife Darlene. They have a one grown son, Derek. Dr. Dioguardi is also a professional guitarist and can be seen regularly performing at local venues.
