About Anke Ott Young, MD

Anke Ott Young, MD, PhD, is a well-versed plastic and reconstructive surgeon who diagnoses and treats patients at her private practice in Garden City, New York, where she focuses on minimally invasive breast cancer reconstruction. She also works at Norma F. Pfriem Breast Cancer Center in Fairfield, Connecticut. Norma Pfriem Breast Center was the first freestanding community breast center in Connecticut to offer one-stop coordination of care, patient navigation and rapid diagnosis. Norma Pfriem Breast Center is one of only 300 sites in the nation accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Furthermore, Dr. Young has staff memberships at several hospitals, including New Haven Health Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, New York. As a plastic surgeon, she has dedicated training and unique experience in the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. Plastic surgery can be divided into two categories. The first is reconstructive surgery which includes craniofacial surgery, hand surgery, microsurgery, and the treatment of burns. The other is cosmetic or aesthetic surgery. Dr. Young has an impressive professional journey that spans seventeen years in the United States and her areas of expertise cover breast reconstruction, oncoplastic surgery, minimally invasive breast reconstruction, pre-pectoral implant reconstruction, direct implant surgery, autologous fat grafting, revision surgery for breast reconstruction. Anke Ott Young, MD, PhD, attended Medizinischen Fakultät der Universität des Saarlandes/ Saarland University Faculty of Medicine in Saarbrücken, Germany, and was awarded her medical degree in 1989. She then completed an internship and residency at UKS – Clinic for Ear, Nose and Throat Medicine in Homburg, Germany, where she also earned her PhD in Forensic Psychiatry. Upon relocating to the United States, she conducted an internship and general surgery residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York, followed by a plastic surgery residency at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York. Dr. Young is fellowship trained in reconstructive microsurgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, New York. She received board certification in plastic surgery from the American Board of Plastic Surgery and remains at the forefront of his challenging specialty via memberships and affiliations with prestigious professional societies and associations, such as the American Medical Association, the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. She feels that her success is attributable primarily to her hard work and a good sense of humor and dedicates her spare time to horse breeding and training. Dr. Young is a member of the U.S. Equestrian Association and owner of Avalon Farm Dressage in Salem, New York.
