After earning her undergraduate studies at The University of Texas at San Antonio, she completed her medical degree at The University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio, followed by an internship and residency in internal medicine at University Hospital in San Antonio. She has been recognized by her peers as the best in the field as well as recognized for her commitment to her community. She has for several years held the position of secretary for the Kendall County Medical Society and has been published in Texas Monthly 2015.
