About Allan Parungao, MD

After 12 successful years as a private practitioner in cosmetic plastic surgery of the hair, face and body, Dr. Parungao has committed himself to full-time specialization in Hair Restoration surgery. Since 2011, he has averaged approximately more than one million grafts per year and in 2018, completed over 1.5 million hair transplantation grafts. His dedication to the field of hair restoration surgery is represented not only by his surgical expertise but also through his active involvement in leading industry associations. Dr. Parungao is the President of the American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. He is also an active member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) and currently serving in its Membership Committee. At the recent ISHRS Annual Scientific Meeting, Dr. Parungao served as both the Local Liaison to the Society and as a Clinical Course Faculty Member. Dr. Parungao received his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, where he served as chief resident during his plastic surgery residency. Dr. Parungao also holds a Master’s degree in physiology from the Chicago Medical School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. His passion for education and learning reflects in his compassion for the patients he takes care of every day. Dr Parungao also served as a Faculty Member at the recent Live Surgery Workshop (Hair Transplantation). In this teaching capacity, he trained and helped to facilitate the education of hair restoration surgeons from around the world. Dr. Parungao has been elected as the President of the American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and elected as the Hair Restoration Advisory Member to the Board of Trustees for the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. As a member of the Global Council of Hair Restoration Surgery Societies, Dr. Parungao is helping to raise awareness of the ""Black Market"" for hair transplantation and influence legal standards for hair transplantation surgery in the European Union. Dr. Parungao’s dedication to the art & science of hair restoration is reflected in the postoperative results and reviews written by his patients.
