About Aislyn M. Nelson, MD
Aislyn Nelson, MD PhD is a board certified Dermatologist who was born and raised in Reno, NV. She completed her dermatology residency at the University of California San Diego. Prior to moving to San Diego, Dr. Nelson graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Art in Neuroscience. She then went on to pursue her M.D., Ph.D at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX where she was named a McNair Scholar and was honored to be named to the AOA society. Dr. Nelson’s research focused on sensory receptors in the skin and how these can be modified during maturation and carcinogenesis. She is passionate about public outreach, sports and dermatology, and enjoys volunteering at community skin cancer skin checks. She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the San Diego Dermatological Society. Dr. Nelson has a special interest in medical, cosmetic and procedural dermatology. Dr. Nelson’s interests outside of dermatology are leading her daughter’s Girl Scout troop, entertaining the family puppy, antique shopping and enjoying all that San Diego has to offer.
